NEWS OF NEW DESIGN

An extremely light bag for air travel. Price 48s. 6d. from Louis Vuitton of Bond Street, and below a binding designed and executed by Katherine Pountney

The “Quickway” settee bed from Marshall Roberts, the head piece has both cupboard and bookshelf and a flap table at the side, there is an ottoman underneath the cushions for the bed clothes. Price £7 17s. 6d.

The Tureby Service designed by Mils [Nils] Thorsson for the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Co., service for eight £8 11s. 3d. The table silver is by Georg Jensen, each piece costs 20s. The glass is by Elfverson, decanter 21s., claret 5s., port 4s. each

A desk in Cingalese satinwood with black vitrolite top, black ebonised recessed handles and plinths. Designed by F. R. S. Yorke for Edgleys

A sewing cabinet in greywood and green sycamore by Marian Speyer. Price £15 3s. 6d. Can also be used as a dressing table or desk. On the left a silver sugar sprinkler specially designed for the "Orion.” The sugar is sprinkled by pressing the small knob which forms the headpiece

Above, a hand-spun and hand-woven textile by Elisabeth [Elizabeth] Peacock, woven on a draw loom such as will be shown at the Exhibition of the Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers to be held at the Whitechapel Art Gallery from the 10th to 17th of October.

On the left an Australian walnut side cabinet by Maurice Adams. Price £24 15s.

One of the Bournemouth trolley buses. Note the absence of advertisements and the separate entrance and exit. The bodies are made by the Park Royal Coachworks Ltd., London. On the left an ingenious “Ironcrete” shovel barrow which costs only £2 19s. 6d.

An interesting theatre built in the heart of the Forest of Spala by the Polish Boy Scouts for their National Jamboree. It is constructed entirely of wood, the stage end is open, the forest trees themselves providing the stage setting.
