NEWS OF NEW DESIGN

1. —An oven for which Pilkington Bros, have designed an armour plate glass door, the advantages of which are obvious to the cook

2. —A picnic case, manufactured by Marris’s Ltd., of Birmingham, lined and covered with Sundour— a new use for a book binding cloth —and constructed of white wood and plywood. It costs 50s

3. —A bent plywood chair designed by The Makers of Simple Furniture, 98 Charlotte Street, London, W.I, illustrating a very economical means of employing this material. It is 2 ft. wide, 3 ft. long and 2 ft. 6 in. high. The retail price is £3 3s

4. —A chromium steel stool by Marris’s Ltd., of Birmingham, which varies in price from 45s. to 50s., according to the material in which it is upholstered

5. —A corner dressing table by Laszlo Hoenig of 287 Regent Street. An unusual feature of the fitment is that the drawers slide right through from side to side and can be opened to their full extent without falling out. The finish is ivory cellulose and the handles are of hand-rubbed silver leaf

6. —A useful occasional easy chair by Bowman Bros, of Camden Town. It is upholstered in coarse crash and costs £3 10s. The sprung seat is 24 in. wide, 21 in. deep and 13 in. high

7. —A decanter, champagne and sherry glasses in crystal by Stevens & Williams, Ltd. The same design is also produced in coloured glass and for claret, cocktail, tumbler, goblet or liqueur glasses. The pieces can be bought separately or in sets
